The writers of the movie adapted the game into realistic terms. When playing the game clue, players have to take turns, and are limited to one grand accusation, which could make the player lose the game. However, the movie makes the game less of a game and more of a real life situation, which gave the characters freedom to accuse and search rooms however they would like. The writers of the movie added a background story to the game. The whole deal with the blackmailing of the six guests by Mr. Boddy and the reasoning behind the blackmailing is not part of the game. The addition of the police in the movie is also new. The main mechanics of the game clue allows the naming the murderer, murder weapon, and murder location, which may or may not be correct. This mechanic is prevalent in the movie, as everyone is guessing, and trying to explain their reasoning, while others disprove the murder suggestions. Entering doorways and secret passage ways are part of the game and part of the movie, as well. The audience of the game is a younger crowd, starting at eight years old, but is still appropriate and fun for anyone older. The movie on the other hand would probably be directed toward teenagers and anyone older. This audience change seems possible because the movie has dead people in it, humor kids will not understand, bigger vocabulary, and a back story that smaller kids will not comprehend. The movie itself is humorous because it is a movie about a board game. Certain mechanics were made fun of in the movie such as when people would enter doorways. The characters are timid and scared of being murdered.I like the part when the homosexual character was given the lead pipe. The trailer of the movie says “The movie that makes a scene of the crime.”
