I was fortunate enough to participate in the Can’t Stop tournament played after class in the IRL club. I won the first game versus three other fierce competitors, and I figured I would be in the running for the extra twenty five extremely valuable blog points. But that initial win didn’t mean anything. Just like that, during the second game I came in second place. And even quicker I lost a one versus one for the ultimate prize. I was heartbroken. How could all my work here amount to nothing? An hour and a half of rolling dice, hoping to god I rolled something I want, counting the dice up wrong, then just having Rob do it for me – just wasted. The moment I lost it all I felt a rage grow inside me, and as I left I did not know if I would ever step foot back into this miserable classroom. If you do not see me on Tuesday, you know why, Rob.
Although I’m not actually that mad, the game Can’t Stop is very frustrating. And looking back on it, I wish I had known that using the middle lanes, and taking them all the way down, was the way to go. I was trying to get the twos and twelves, when the sevens were the best option. So, this game does have even a little bit of strategy even though it is basically all luck. I feel like I am very conservative, in general, when it comes to just taking as much as I need. But this game brings out the worst in me, I just can’t stop. I found myself going for it all, like YOLO. It worked out for the most part, however my opponent was just luckier in the end. It seemed as if this game was hyped up because Rob would always brag about how highly ranked he is in this game and that it is a lot of fun. It was fun, but maybe a little disappointing. Maybe I am only saying this because I lost.
